Eliminating Waste in Software Projects using Agile Engineering Practices: Exploring the CSD from a Lean Perspective

The Scrum Alliance's Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) designation focuses on teaching software practitioners how to create quality software through the understanding and effective application of Agile Engineering Practices. The CSD program teaches Scrum developers essential practices such as Pairing, Simple Design, Test Driven Development, Acceptance Testing, and Continuous Integration. We will explore these Agile Engineering Practices through a Lean lens. This Lean lens will be used to focus on how to eliminate the 7 wastes of software development that plague software development teams through continual application of these practices.
Andy Painter has over 16 years of professional software development experience.as a developer, technical lead, architect and project lead with hands-on experience in all aspects of the application development cycle in the Retail, Financial, and Defense industries. Other the last 5 years, Andy has coupled that deep technology experience with Agile practices to develop teams and environments that are hyper-productive. This unique combination of experience gives some real-world experience on how best to establish an Agile organization and teams through an enablement process that allows an organization, teams, and individuals to achieve a hyper-productive state delivering continuous streams of value through the delivery of quality software.
